Storm Eunice update - 18/02/2022, 17:45
According to the Met Office we’re now through the worst of the expected bad weather for the region, and Storm Eunice is finally leaving us!

Although it’s going to continue to be windy, wet, and cold the warning level for us has dropped in severity.

We’re pleased to say, thanks to the hard work and preparation by our teams over the last few days, we’ve not seen any issues with our networks or customers’ water supplies as a result of the weather.

We’ll carry on keeping a close eye on our reservoirs, pumping stations and network over the coming days as we’re still expecting heavy rain and generally poor conditions.

We will continue to have extra people in our call centre to help anyone that might have any problems.

You can call them on 0345 717 1100 or drop them a private message on social media.

It’s always a good idea to make sure you, or anyone you know who might need extra support during an event like this, are signed up to our Priority Services Register here, www.nwl.co.uk/priority.

That way we can make sure you get any extra help that you might need.

Thanks again for all the support you’ve shown us during  Storm Dudley and Storm Eunice.

Storm Eunice update – 18/02/22, 10:45
Storm Eunice has officially arrived and has brought snow to some parts of the North East this morning.

Our teams have been out in the chilly conditions since the early hours, helping keep our networks running smoothly and the water flowing for our customers.

We’ve not seen any problems with our water supplies caused by the weather conditions so far, and we’re working hard to keep it this way.

The latest Met Office forecast shows that the region will see high winds and possibly heavy rain continuing throughout the day, until the early evening. And so we’ll continue checking reservoirs, pumping stations and all of our networks right across the region to make sure supplies are protected.

Remember, if you do have any issues then we have extra customer service teams on hand to help.

If you haven’t already registered your details with us, please make sure you do so here – www.nwl.co.uk/register - just so we can keep you informed if anything were to happen.

As well as this, customers who may need additional support from us during an event like this are encouraged to sign up to our Priority Services Register here – www.nwl.co.uk/priority.

If you have an urgent supply issue, or need to speak to someone in an emergency, please call us on 0345 717 1100.

Storm Dudley and Storm Eunice update - 17/02/22 - 10:30am

Last night was incredibly windy, and it was tough going for everyone with #StormDudley in town.

But, thanks to the preparation work that our operational teams put in over the last few days, we’re pleased to report that we haven’t had any issues with our water networks here in the North East.

Although Dudley has now gone the work won’t stop.

We’re now getting ready for Storm Eunice, which is expected to land in the region late tonight/early tomorrow morning.

The Met Office are predicting high winds, rain and even snow in some places and so maintaining our customers water supplies throughout this will remain our priority.

As with Storm Dudley, we have thorough plans in place including extra teams on the ground, additional generator support and enhanced checks on our sites in rural locations.

Work with partners at the local councils, emergency services and Northern Powergrid is also continuing.

We’d like to remind customers to ensure that their latest details are stored in our systems, in case we need to make contact during #StormEunice - www.nwl.co.uk/register

Or, if you know anyone that might need some additional help during an event such as a storm, make sure you sign them up to our Priority Services Register here - www.nwl.co.uk/priority

#StormDudley update: 16-February-2022 - 6:15pm

We have been seeing the impact of Storm Dudley across the region and our colleagues at the Met Office say that it’s expected to last into this evening (Wed 16th) and overnight.

Our teams are continuing to work through the winds and adverse weather conditions, and are out in force to keep the water flowing – and they’ll continue to be on hand 24/7 until this has all blown over.

Thanks to the preparation work that we have put in over the last few days, we’re not currently seeing any issues for any of our customers at this time.

As a precaution we have switched some of our larger and more rural sites on to generators to avoid any potential issues for customers that could come from power cuts.

We’ve been working with our partners at the local councils, emergency services and Northern Powergrid on a multi-agency response to support our communities.

Earlier today, we emailed our customers with some useful advice and information, but if you didn’t receive one then please make sure that your most up-to-date details are stored in our systems here - www.nwl.co.uk/register

And, if you have any elderly family members or neighbours, or know anyone that might need some additional help if anything happens, make sure you sign them up to our Priority Services Register here - www.nwl.co.uk/priority

If there are any issues with your water supply, or you need to speak to someone urgently in an emergency, then please call 0345 7171100.

Thank you for your support and please stay safe.

Northumbrian Water have issued some advice to customers as Storm Dudley and Storm Eunice hit the North East.

As winds of up to 90mph are predicted to strike the region over the next few days, the water company has assured its customers that thorough plans have been put in place in order to keep the water flowing.

The company says teams are as prepared as they possibly can be ahead of the weather warnings, and extra employees will be out on the ground to help, carrying out extra checks in more rural locations.

Advice includes checking in with elderly family members or neighbours, or seeing if someone you know needs additional help. These customers can then be signed up to the Priority Services Register here - www.nwl.co.uk/priority - meaning that they will receive extra support during events such as storms.

If any customers experience issues with their water supply, or need to speak to someone urgently in an emergency, they are advised to call 0345 7171100.

Further updates will be given on social media at @nwater_care and local media will be kept informed.
