Customer information: 17:00

Our teams are still in attendance following the burst on Priory Crescent in Southend, and will continue to work throughout the night in order to complete a repair.

We are working hard to get the repair finished tomorrow, and expect that the section of road on Priory Crescent will be closed until early next week.

Customers in the area should still have water supplies, however some may experience lower pressure at times. If customers are experiencing discoloured water, they should run the cold downstairs taps until the water runs clear.

We apologise for the inconvenience or disruption caused, and customers who need urgent help can contact us on 03457 820999.

Customer information: 11am
We are currently dealing with a large water main burst in Southend.

Last night (Wednesday, October 19)  we were made aware of a large burst on a water main on Priory Crescent in Southend, Essex.

Our teams attended and have been working all through the night to isolate the burst. The water main has now been switched off, but due to the size of the pipe, repair work is still ongoing today.

There was some localised flooding to a small number of properties in the area and we have customer teams in the area today to support and help any residents impacted by the flooding.

We are working with Essex County Fire and Rescue Service and the Environment Agency to safely divert the running water into a nearby brook before the main was switched off.

While we carry out the repair, all customers in the area should still have water supplies, however some may experience lower pressure at times.

There is also a chance that some customers may experience discoloured water, and if this is the case we would ask customers to run their cold downstairs taps until the water runs clear.

A section of Priory Crescent is closed to allow for the repair to safely take place and diversions are in place.

We will be working on the burst throughout the day and into the night to get it repaired as quickly as possible and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.

If anyone needs to contact us in relation to the burst then please ring us on 03457 820999.

We will keep customers in the area informed via text and updates will be available on our social media at Essex & Suffolk Water on Facebook and @eswater_care.
