Emergency work to carry out a complex repair on a damaged sewer pipe is continuing in Blyth.
Earlier this month Northumbrian Water discovered a damaged section of sewer pipe on the B1329, between the roundabout at the entrance to the Keel Row and the roundabout at the top of Bridge Street.
Repair work has been ongoing and due to the size of the pipe and the work involved to re-direct the large volumes of waste it carries work is expected to be ongoing for the next six weeks.
To ensure the repair is carried out safely and in the best way possible a section of the road has been closed and diversions for road users remain in place, with additional signs to help shoppers access Morrisons and Keel Row Car Park.
Northumbrian Water’s supply partners, Esh Civils, are carrying out the repair, and the organisations continue to work closely with Northumberland County Council to reduce disruption.
Northumbrian Water is apologising for any inconvenience caused and thanking its customers for their ongoing patience while the work is carried out.
